Lines composed without the aid of a Dictionary of Literary Terms nor a Companion to European Literature

A DATE AT THE POETRY CAFÉ

With her trochees, spondees,
Dactyls, tetrameters and alexandrines
She certainly talked a good poem.

With my Toths, Spondes,
Dachs, Tetmajers and Aleixandres
I fear I came across as a bit of a pseud.

Árpád Tóth (Hungarian poet, 1886-1928)
Jean de Sponde (French poet, 1557-1595)
Simon Dach (German poet, 1605-1659)
Kazimierz Tetmajer (Polish poet and short-story writer, 1865-1940)
Vicente Aleixandre (Spanish poet, 1898-1984)
