She owes her reputation to her role in the French Resistance.
Aragon’s five-volume novel, Les Communistes, is virtually unreadable,
but you have to admire his persistence.

CRACKING THE TRIOLET

The first line is repeated as the fourth.
The second and the eighth are quite alike.
So runs the triolet, for what it’s worth.
The first line is repeated as the fourth,
likewise as the seventh. A form that ought
to be a cinch. We’re nearly there. Don’t pike.
The seventh line repeats again the fourth.
Lines eight and two chime somewhat, refrain-like.
Innit.
